University of Reading - Personalised Prospectus; Me@Reading

Responsive website and portal

Brief

According to latest market research, the University of Reading, tends to be the second choice for most applicants. In order to improve these statistics, the university was involved in a program with PWC, to offer better digital services to prospective and current students.

  • Business Objectives: To be the first choice of university for prospective students.

  • User Needs: To support prospective and current students by providing context specific information and tools.

  • Technical Objectives: To create a responsive website with the ability to personalise the prospectus. Provide an internal portal for current students as platform for their day to day life on campus.

Process

Weekly workshops with the PWC and UoR teams helped define the requirements and end solution. An iterative process where the stake holders were involved in every stage of the prototype from sitemaps, user flows, low-fidelity sketches to detailed wireframes.

Deliverable

The solution was designed to be responsive across three viewports mobile, tablet & desktop.

Personalised Prospectus – Allows users to personalise the information they see on a prospectus based on their subjects, hobbies and interests in campus life. Users can edit or share this prospectus with family and friends. The application process is featured to support the users journey.

Me@Reading – An internal portal designed to support current students (already enrolled with the university) with their studies, development, calendar, reminders & tasks, profile etc.
